Wayne State University 2018 Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) Symposium:

Building CEnR Networks to Eliminate Disparities in Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease

Detroit, MI

This free, one-day symposium, co-directed by Hayley Thompson, Ph.D., and Phillip Levy, M.D., M.P.H., WSU’s assistant vice president of Translational Science and Clinical Research Innovation, will provide opportunities to learn about and discuss the benefits gained from CEnR, as well as its challenges and strategies for successful implementation.

The symposium will feature the work of Detroit HealthLink for Equity in Cancer Care (www.DetroitHealthLink.org). This academic-community partnership has coordinated seven Cancer Action Councils that include cancer survivors, caregivers and advocates. With funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, it has established three councils in diverse settings: Voices of Detroit Initiative - Conner Creek, Detroit; Western Wayne Family Health Center – Inkster; and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute – Detroit.
