Strengthening CMS Oversight of Accrediting Organizations | CMS
Accrediting Organizations (AOs) play an important role in determining whether healthcare providers and suppliers participating in Medicare or Medicaid programs meet health and safety requirements. Fact Sheet: Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program June 2023
On June 16, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule that would codify policies established in guidance documents for the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program for initial price applicability year 2029 and beyond (“Negotiation Program”) (CMS-4215-P). This new guidance previews CMS’ plans to propose a rule that would ensure consistent oversight and clear budget neutrality requirements for proposed demonstration projects, which will help states cost-effectively enhance programs and ensure fiscal integrity, while lowering costs and improving outcomes.
