Michigan House of Representatives Introduces Bipartisan Health Care Package, Includes Oral Parity Legislation
The morning of February 24, 2021, the Michigan House of Representatives announced the “House Bipartisan Health Care Plan” to “ensure every Michigan family has access to quality, affordable health care.” During the press conference to announce the package today, lawmakers spearheading the effort touched on challenges Michiganders face with respect to access to affordable, quality care, challenges that have been underscored by the pandemic.
Included in the 15-bill package, is a bill providing for oral parity for cancer drugs, which is being introduced by Representative Daire Rendon. MSHO is working closely with the sponsor on bill language.
We expect there will be a hearing in the House Insurance Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Rendon, as soon as next week. There will likely be two weeks of hearings on the bill prior to a vote.
MSHO will keep our members apprised of future updates.
