Education to Enhance Provider Awareness of the Depression Screening Benefit for Medicare Patients

WPS has initiated a plan to provide education to increase provider awareness of the Depression Screening benefit.  This benefit is unrecognized or under recognized by providers in our jurisdiction while the prevalence of depression is relatively high (as the charts in the attachment illustrate). Our goal is to increase the depression screening rate by 10%.

CLICK HERE to review the WPS information sheet to provide background, data, coverage, claim preparation/submission tips, and resources about the Medicare depression screening benefit.  This important message also includes information about more WPS education regarding this valuable benefit that is available at no cost to enrolled Medicare beneficiaries.  This includes a live webinar that will occur on May 25, 2021.  Registration for this live event and for on-demand depression screening training is available in the WPS GHA Learning Center.  All non in-person WPS education events are free of charge and many courses offer a Certificate of Achievement upon successful completion.  Several accrediting bodies will consider award of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon submission/presentation of the certificate.
