Governor Whitmer Delivers Her Sixth State of the State Adress

Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her sixth State of the State address at the Capitol in Lansing. In her 2024 address, Governor Whitmer highlighted 6 different proposals:

The Governor’s goals for this year concentrate on building up Michigan.  Whitmer touted the democratic trifecta’s accomplishments in reproductive rights, climate change solutions, delivering $1 billion in tax relief, free school lunches, and codifying the Affordable Care Act into Michigan statute, among other notable priorities for the caucus.

Prepared Remarks and Address Footage

Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt (R-Lawton) provided the GOP’s official response to Governor Whitmer’s address. Most notably, Sen. Nesbitt discussed how inflation is overwhelming the kitchen table issues for Michiganders, the impact of the state’s declining population, and how Michigan’s children are lagging behind academically compared to their peers in other states.
