Markie Zimmer, M.D.
3rd Year Fellow
Dr. Markie Zimmer is a third-year Hematology/Oncology fellow at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She earned her medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where she served as Chief Resident. In this leadership role, she balanced caring for patients with teaching and mentoring residents and medical students, experiences that deepened her dedication to academic medicine and collaborative care.
During her fellowship at Henry Ford, Dr. Zimmer developed a strong clinical interest in hematologic malignancies, which has grown through clinical research. She is looking forward to a career in academic hematology focusing on myeloid disorders.
Dr. Zimmer is an active member of the Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology, where she serves on the board as one of the fellow representatives and is a member of MSHO’s Young Professionals Committee. In this role, she is excited about MSHO’s aim to mentor and support trainees pursuing careers in hematology/oncology, fostering the next generation of leaders in cancer care across Michigan.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Zimmer enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Addie. She is honored to be involved with and serve within MSHO and looks forward to contributing to its mission of supporting hematology and oncology professionals and improving cancer care across Michigan.
