Urge Congress to Advance the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act

Time is running out to advance the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act (S. 721/H.R. 5178), and we need your voice to help make it happen.

ASH is working to build bipartisan support for this critical legislation, but Congress needs to hear directly from the hematology community.

Take action today: Urge your Senators and Representative to support including the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act in an end-of-year legislative package.

Too many people living with sickle cell disease (SCD) face barriers to accessing specialized, coordinated care, including knowledgeable providers, mental health services, and other essential supports. These gaps can lead to fragmented care, preventable complications, and avoidable hospitalizations. The Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act would help address these challenges by expanding access to comprehensive, high-quality outpatient care. This legislation would allow states to establish Medicaid Health Homes for individuals living with sickle cell disease, helping coordinate care, improve health outcomes, and reduce unnecessary health care expenditures.

With the end of the 119th Congress approaching, Congress has an important opportunity to advance this bipartisan legislation and improve care for people living with SCD.

Increasing congressional support and securing the inclusion of this legislation in an end-of-year package are critical steps toward making that progress a reality.

Every message or social media post helps demonstrate the urgent need for action. People living with SCD cannot afford to wait another year for better access to coordinated, comprehensive care.
