Incident To Services
Medicare allows physicians and practitioners to send charges for services provided by someone else and refers to this as Incident To. Back to School with Incident To Billing is a two-part series to assist with your questions regarding Incident To guidelines. We will partner with Dr. Joelle Vlahakis, WPS Contractor Medical Director, to answer your questions. These sessions are for providers billing on a CMS 1500 claim form or 837P electronic transactions.

Pop Quiz: Incident To Denials & How to Pass
September 18: 2:00 – 3:00 pm ET

Pop in for our final session in our 2-part series focused on incident to services. This webinar will focus on avoiding incident to service denials and rejections . During this event, we will provide:

  • Brief recap from previous day's study hall
  • Top denials and rejections
  • Interactive Q&A practice

There will be an interactive Q&A session based on pre-submitted questions. Submit your questions early for this practice session.

This session is intended for providers who will bill Medicare using CMS 1500/837P transactions.

Physician Bonus Payments in HPSAs - The Basics

Physician professional services are eligible to receive bonus payments when performed in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). We will provide the basic information about these bonus payments. This webinar:

  • Defines a HPSA
  • Covers who can get an HPSA bonus
  • Explains modifier usage for HPSA services
  • Explains and demonstrates the primary care or mental health HPSA lists to see if services are eligible for the bonus

Transitional Care Management: A Provider’s Guide

Medicare pays for Transitional Care Management (TCM) for a 30-day period after a patient’s discharge from a facility. This benefit supports patients as they transition from an inpatient facility back into the community. This webinar covers:

WPS Secure Portal: Credit Balances
October 9: 10:00 – 11:00 am ET

A Medicare credit balance is a provider improper or excess payment. Providers must report and repay these payments to the Medicare program. Part A providers must report self-identified overpayments using the credit balance report. This webinar covers submitting this information using the WPS Secure Portal.

Medicare Education Expo: Medi-Scare Madness
October 16, 2025

WPS presents our next Medicare Education Expo on October 16, 2025. The Expo is a day dedicated to providing extensive education on a single topic.

This Expo covers the life cycle of a claim. There will be six separate sessions to choose from. This education is for anyone new to Medicare, as well as those who wish to stay current with our claims processes.

Sessions
The session topics include:

  • Provider enrollment basics and best practices
  • Documentation principles
  • 2 concurrent sessions for preparing to complete the claim form
  • 1 session for the UB-04 claim form and 837I electronic claims
  • 1 session for the CMS 1500 claim form and 837P electronic claims
  • Medicare processing overview
  • Post-payment claim review programs and how to prepare for them
